In April 1994, VHAT started “Ratanmani Vidyalay” with the aim to promote quality primary education of the tribal children living in the remote hilly areas of Rupaichari block under South Tripura district. As on March 2026 Ratanmani Vidyalay completed thirty two years of its existence and achieved the status of quality primary education centre for the poor tribal children in the area.

Students - Category

For the academic year 2025-26, the school served a total of 273 students from Class I to Class V. The majority of these children reside on-campus to facilitate their education.

The school was supported by 13 full-time staff members, including eight teachers (6 male and 2 female). All teachers are residential, providing extra coaching and support beyond standard school hours.

Educational and Holistic Development in the School:

The school follows the curriculum of Tripura State Govt. Education Department with books provided under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA). Beyond formal academics, the institution emphasized a well-rounded development through:

• Life Skills & Vocational Training: Students receive instruction in English conversation, computer literacy, and plant nursery management.
• Extracurricular Activities: Children regularly participate in dancing, singing, art, and sports.

Malaria Awareness: Numerous programs were held to educate villagers on malaria symptoms, prevention, and remedies.

• Physical Well-being: Daily yoga practice is encouraged, and the school celebrated the International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2025.

A significant portion of the academic year was dedicated to community service and health awareness campaigns in remote villages like Narad Para, Manu Para, and Gonadhar Para. Key initiatives included:

• Malaria Awareness: Numerous programs were held to educate villagers of different villages of Rupaichari block, on malaria symptoms, prevention, and remedies in June to August 2025.
• Social Issues: Awareness drives focused on the harmful effects of child marriage, addiction, and the importance of environmental protection.
• Environmental Stewardship: Celebrations of World Environment Day and Vanamahotsav involved extensive tree plantation drives using saplings provided by the Forest Department.
• Public Health: The school hosted multiple health check-ups and vaccination drives, including a TT vaccination for Class V students and check-ups by Sewa International and RBSK.

Major Events and Celebration:

• National Festivals: Independence Day and Republic Day were observed with rallies, patriotic competitions, and flag-hoisting ceremonies involving the Border Security Force (BSF).
• Cultural Observances: The school celebrated the birth anniversaries of Netaji Subhash Ch Bose, Rabindranath Tagore, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, Swami Vivekananda, and Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.
• Civic Action Program: On January 20, 2026, the 114 Battalion of the BSF organized a program providing the school with essential sports equipments, stationery, and hostel supplies.

Success Stories and Impact:

The report highlights individual success as a testament to the school's mission:

• Chanduni Tripura: A Class II student who had stopped attending school due to illness and lack of motivation was successfully reintegrated into the mainstream after teachers visited her home to counsel her parents.
• Anita Tripura: A proud alumna who joined the school in 2011 from a poor background and is now pursuing a B.Tech in Civil Engineering.

The academic year concluded with the School Annual Programme on March 25, 2026, where top performers were awarded, and it was announced that all students would receive free school uniforms for the upcoming session.

Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT) continued its long-standing commitment to vocational excellence through its partnership with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). Since its inception in 2007, the centre (AVI-700001) has focused on empowering youth by providing flexible, inclusive education and creating tangible employment opportunities.

Educational Mission & Impact:

Open schooling serves as a critical pathway for educational equity in India, specifically catering to marginalized sections of society and individuals who require alternative learning styles. By offering a non-traditional framework, VHAT ensures that those who cannot thrive in standard schooling environments still have the chance to achieve professional empowerment.

Courses highlights:

• Vocational Focus: The curriculums were heavily weighted toward healthcare and wellness (Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Community Health, and specialized training in Yoga and early education).
• Practical Training: Recent activity includes hands-on sessions for the Yoga Teachers Training and Yoga certificate programs, featuring physical demonstrations and guided practice.
• Administrative Oversight: Academic and administrative planning was supported by regular meetings and consultative sessions involving VHAT staff and educators to ensure the quality of vocational delivery.

Background:

AISECT was established in 1985 to bridge the digital divide between the rural and semi urban masses and build a capable generation. Going into the future, AISECT aspired to empower the next generation with the right skills, exposure and cultural identities.
AISECT - a top Indian social enterprise focused on skill development, higher education, financial inclusion, e-governance, and other ICT services in semi-urban and rural areas. Since 1985, the Bhopal-based organization has been tirelessly served remote regions for 37 years, empowering people, creating jobs for youth, and promoting entrepreneurship.

Role of VHAT:

Voluntary Health Association of Tripura collaborated with AISECT as an implementing agency in the year 2024 to provide access to quality higher education for individuals seeking to enhance their qualifications.

After VHAT has registered as Skill Knowledge Provider (SKP) of AISECT in January 2025, it has started 2 (two) types of courses; Academic Courses-Regular & Distance mode and Skill courses.
